
On the morning of this Monday, a tragic accident occurred on the Mitla-Tehuantepec highway in Oaxaca, where a bus from the Fletes y Pasajes line overturned at kilometer 83 + 200, near Santo Domingo Narro, claiming the lives of at least 11 people. Additionally, it was reported that two people were transported in critical condition and another ten in urgent condition to Juchitán de Zaragoza for medical attention.
Civil Protection authorities reported that rescue and medical attention efforts for the injured are underway, but the exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined. The governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara Cruz, has instructed to provide all necessary support to the affected individuals and to conduct the corresponding investigations to clarify what happened.
In an official statement, the head of the Secretary of Government, Jesús Romero López, expressed that the state government will take charge of providing support to the affected families through various entities, such as the State System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF) Oaxaca. So far, the official list of passengers on the ill-fated bus has not been made public, but it is estimated that people from Mexico City, returning from an event in the Zócalo, were traveling.
